Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Massage therapy and breathwork are widely sought-after practices for numerous health benefits, but often raises several questions for those new to the experience. Here are answers to some of the most frequently asked questions to help you understand and prepare for your session.

What to expect from your first session with me?

During your first massage, you can expect a brief consultation to discuss your health history, current issues, and specific needs or preferences. This helps tailor the session to your requirements. I will leave the room while you undress to your comfort level and lie on the massage table under a sheet, where you will be fully draped other than the part of the body I will be working on. The session will typically start with light, gentle strokes to warm up your muscles, followed by deeper techniques targeting specific areas of tension.

How to prepare for your mobile massage?

I will arrive 15 mins prior to session, if I am running late due to unforeseen issues, I will let you know ASAP. To prepare for a mobile massage session, clear a space large enough for the massage table and for me to move around comfortably. Ensure the area is clean, quiet, and free of distractions.  Wear comfortable clothing and avoid heavy meals or alcohol before your session. Please have a parking spot available nearby and communicate to me where that is.

What is the cancelation and rescheduling policy?

Rescheduling can be done up to 48hrs before your appointment if you cancel within 24hrs you will be charged 50% of the service total unless booked that same day.

What forms of payment do you accept?

I accept cash and carry a travel POS card reader for debit/credit cards.

What style of breathwork are you teaching?

I completed my certified breathwork facilitator training with Jon Paul Crimi. The style I'll be teaching is a Conscious connected circular breathing, a modern form of pranayama, where the breath is used as a tool to calm the mind, regulate the body’s energy, and improve physical and mental well-being.  The 3-part pattern is an unbroken cycle of inhaling and exhaling. You take that first breath deep into the belly, a second inhale into the heart and a gentle exhale, all through the mouth.

Why practice breathwork?

Breathwork assists in peeling back the layers you've built to protect yourself, revealing your empowered self. Whether you're dealing with stress, anxiety, fear, feeling overwhelmed, loss of direction, grief, or anger, breathwork offers clarity and certainty through deep heart connection. Leave each session feeling connected, grounded, and truly embodied.

What should I expect from my first session?

While the technique remains mostly the same across all sessions, what you will experience and heal will vary from session to session, and person to person. I start by explaining the physical, mental, and emotional things that may come up while we are breathing. I will do some grounding poems or meditations to bring us into our bodies. You’ll lay down with your eyes closed and be in ‘active breathing’ paired with a playlist I've created, for 25-30 minutes. Then we move back to normal breath and for another 30mins, this is where I personally feel all the magic happens, your body feels open and expansive, connected to your true self, and receptive to messages or simply feelings of bliss.

What is happening during breathwork?

By practicing breathwork, you control and utilize your breath to impact your physical, mental, and emotional well-being. This technique enables you to access different states of consciousness and tap into the body's innate healing powers. Your nervous system activates the relaxation response, diminishing feelings of stress and anxiety, your brain produces more alpha waves, which are linked to calmness and relaxation, and a beautiful thing happens where you silence that self-critic, tapping into your intuition, decision-making, and self-awareness.

Can I practice breathwork with a medical condition?

If you have any medical conditions or are currently taking medication, please consult your doctor prior to practicing Breathwork. It’s recommended that you consult with your healthcare provider (including any mental health provider) prior to practicing breathwork if you are unsure if breathwork is right for you.

Breathwork can result in intense physical and emotional release. Therefore, it is not advised for persons with a history of cardiovascular disease, including angina or heart attack, high blood pressure, glaucoma, retinal detachment, osteoporosis, any significant recent physical injuries or surgeries, severe mental illness, diagnosis of schizophrenia, seizure disorders or are using major medications, blood thinning medicine.

Breathwork is not advised for persons with severe mental illness or seizure disorders or for persons using major medications. It is also unsuitable for anyone with a personal or family history of aneurysms. Pregnant women are advised against practicing Breathwork without first consulting and getting approval from their primary care physician. Persons with asthma should bring their inhaler and consult with their primary care physician and the Breathwork facilitator before their first session.
